Interim gov. follows up maintenance at Benina Airport after heavy rains

A delegation from the Libyan Interim Government visited the Benina International Airport on Sunday to inspect the damage sustained due to heavy rains, and follow up the emergency maintenance work at the airport.

The delegation consisted of the Minister Social Affairs and the President of the Benghazi Municipal Council. They were received by the Benina Airport’s Director General, the Administrative and Financial Affairs Director, and the Security Director.

The airport has declared the suspension of work, after the heavy rains that pounded the region last week, causing major floods and severe damage to parts of its facilities.

Benina International Airport is one of the largest airports in eastern Libyan. The air hub was closed for years due to clashes between army forces and terrorist groups.
