Cash allowed into, out of Libya set at $10K: CBL

A traveler can carry a maximum of $10,000 or its equivalent in foreign currency while crossing Libyan ports into or outside the country, according to a Wednesday decree by the Central Bank of Libya.

The decision issued by The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) and Head of The National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer, stated that anyone who wants to carry any amount of cash exceeding the mentioned value should fill a special application.

The application shall clarify the purpose of traveler’s visit, whether into Libya or outside it.
