Suicide bombing hits Ghadwua police station without casualties

A suicide bomber blew himself up inside a police station in Ghadwua village, 60 kilometers from the southern city of Sabha, just one day after the Libyan National Army (LNA) freed nearly 20 people who were kidnapped by militants during attacks in central Libya.

In a brief statement on Tuesday, the LNA-affiliated Khalid bin al-Walid Brigade said the explosion did not leave any causalities except minor damages in the police station.

According to eyewitnesses, the bomber was arrested and brought to the police station by the residents of the area.

The statement called on the citizens of neighboring areas to report any suspicious persons or vehicles inside cities or villages, and to avoid crowded areas.

LNA spokesperson Ahmed al-Mismari said Tuesday that clashes had erupted late Monday between LNA forces, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and militants in Ghadwua.

A military official said the victims were kidnapped from the towns of al-Fuqaha and Tazerbu last month, two of whom managed to flee and reported the locations of the others.

The militants were holding the abductees in containers on farmland.
