Libya’s Sarraj urges return of Russian investments

Head of the Government of the National Accord (GNA) Faiez Sarraj met on Sunday with Russian ambassador to Libya Ivan Molotkov to discuss the latest political updates in the Libyan scene, and several issues of mutual interest.

During the Tripoli meeting, Sarraj expressed the government’s aspiration to enhance economic relations between Libya and Russia, along with the return of Russian investments to his country.

Molotkov assured his country’s support for the GNA, and its willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and activate the agreements concluded between the two sides.

The Russian ambassador also invited Sarraj to visit Moscow.

Last week, Libya also urged the return of the Italian investments during a meeting between
Tripoli’s Minister of Local Government Milad al-Taher and the Italian Deputy Ambassador to Libya Nicola Orlando.

The meeting discussed several issues of mutual interest along with underscoring the return of Italian companies and investments to Libya and enhancing cooperation between both countries.
