GNA, Scotland Yard study ways to boost security cooperation

The Government of the National Accord (GNA)’s Minister of Interior Fathi Bashagha and Richard Clark, a representative of Scotland Yard, discussed on Tuesday means to boost cooperation between the two security institutions.

They met at the headquarters of the Interior Ministry in Tripoli to discuss terrorism-related issues and ways to fight terror and achieve security in Libya.

Earlier on 30 December, Bashaga admitted that financial and administrative corruption impede the ministry from “acting properly” to fight terrorism in Libya and to prevent several attacks carried out by terrorist groups, including the Islamic State attack on the in December.

During a meeting with officials at the Ministry of Interior, Bashagha said there is chaos in the ministry due to unofficial and disorganized decisions made by some of its employees.
