U.S. invites NOC to partake in Houston oil exhibition in March

US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Energy Resources, Francis R. Fannon, invited the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to participate in Houston oil and gas exhibition on 11 March.

It came during the visit of Libyan Foreign Minister of the Government of National Accord, Mohammed Sayala, to Washington to attend a conference for the Global Coalition to Defeat IS.

Sayala and Fannon discussed the cooperation in different energy sectors. They also agreed to work toward achieving security and stability to maintain levels of oil and gas production, the media office of the foreign ministry said.

Likewise, Sayala met with the US Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Kathryn Wheelbarger, and reviewed cooperation in security and defense sectors, especially in fighting terrorism, boosting Libyan cadres in protecting borders against snuggling and human trafficking.

Sayala discussed also with the US Deputy Assistant Director of CIA for Africa, Cyril Sartor, security challenges in Libya, especially in the upcoming constitution referendum and elections in the country.

They also talked about the threats coming from terror groups and cross-border human trafficking groups, with Sartor reiterating the U.S. commitment to supporting the political solution for the Libyan crisis via different fields of assistance.
