Free Fields Foundation launches demining campaign in Yafran

Free Fields Foundation (3F) launched a demining campaign in Yafran city, northwestern Libya, in coordination with the municipal council of the city that has been suffering for years from deadly mine fields.

The team includes a number of technicians and specialists in the dismantling and clearance of mines and unexploded ordnance, in the presence of several police personnel and paramedics.

Many of the Libyan regions that have experienced armed conflicts over the past years are suffering from the danger of mines which have killed hundreds of innocent civilians.

3F’s primary focus is to locate and destroy mines, munitions, and unexploded ordnance of all kinds, including unused munitions that are not wanted by the Libyan authorities.

3F is a Libyan Mine Action NGO based in Tripoli and specializes in mine and explosive remnants of war (ERW) clearance, operating mainly in the western Nafusa Mountains area.

It was founded in 2012 by a group of people with shared concerns about the post-conflict ERW situation in Libya.
