US supports GNA’s interior ministry with $500K

The United States will grant the Interior Ministry of the Government of National Accord $500,000 to purchase new weapons for rapid action operations.

the decision was announced during an official visit by Commander of US Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Thomas Waldhauser, to Tripoli, accompanied by the U.S ambassador to Libya Peter Bodde.

During the visit, the two officials met with head of the Presidency Council Faiez al-Sarraj, as well as security and military leaders from the GNA.

Bodde stressed during his meeting with Sarraj that the only solution to the Libyan crisis is through a political initiative.

Informed sources told 218 the US ambassador also met with UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame.
