Sarraj in Tunis for 30th Arab League Summit

Head of the Presidency Council Faiez al-Sarraj arrived in Tunis on Saturday night to participate in the 30th ordinary session of the Arab League Summit.

Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and senior Tunisian officials welcomed Sarraj at the Carthage International Airport.

The Arab League supports a political solution in Libya and rejects any military conflicts among Libyans, the Arab league spokesperson said in a Saturday statement, adding that some foreign powers are cooperating with Arab League to end the Libyan crisis.

In a joint press conference with Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui ahead of the summit, the Saudi counterpart Ibrahim Al-Assaf stressed that his country fully supports legitimate state institutions in Libya and considers the Skhirat Agreement as a roadmap to resolve the crisis and maintain the country’s integrity.

Saudi Arabia, as a key member in the Arab League, still maintains ties with the Libyan National Army Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Sarraj’s rival.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz met with at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh and discussed the latest developments in Libya, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

During the meeting, the Saudi monarch affirmed Riyadh’s keenness on the security and stability of Libya, wishing the Libyan people progress and prosperity, SPA said.
