The Libyan National Army (LNA) has banned warplanes and aerial photography aircrafts from flying in the western region after clashes with forces loyal to the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).
In a Saturday press conference, LNA spokesperson Ahmed al-Mismari said that while the LNA was in the process of capturing several sites on the southern outskirts of the capital, including Tripoli Airport, Qasr Bin Ghashir, and Wadi al-Rabie, four aircrafts struck Aziziya town, near Tripoli in northwestern Libya, killing an entire family of civilians.
The attack did not result in any military losses, according to the spokesperson, but 14 army personnel have been killed since Thursday in its endeavor to enter Tripoli.
He added that the army did not participate in the Saturday battle in order to protect civilians and their properties, but the western region is now a restricted military zone, stressing that the army will target any plane violating these restrictions.
