LNA approaches Tripoli after controlling Ain Zarah, Tawergha

The air forces of the Libyan National Army (LNA) cooperated with the ground forces while trying to control Ain Zarah and Tawergha to approach Tripoli, LNA spokesperson Ahmed al-Mismari announced Sunday.

Mismari said the eastern army will cut supplies from the armed groups in Tripoli as part of its strategy rid the western region from terrorists, adding that the air force destroyed their storehouses of weapons and ammunition.

The war between Khalifa Haftar’s eastern LNA and Faiez al-Sarraj’s Government of National Accord (GNA) has killed nearly 150 people and wounded 600 others, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

In their clashes, the two rivals use airstrikes and missiles, shelling schools, hospitals, ambulances and civilians, the UN Mission Support in Libya (UNSMIL) warned.

Further, the unstable situation in the capital forced 18,000 people to flee their homes, 2,500 alone in the past 24 hours, according to the UN Migration Agency (IOM).
