376 killed, 1.8k injured since beginning of Tripoli conflicts: WHO

The tension between the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Government of the National Accord (GNA) have killed thus far 376 people, including 23 civilians, and injured 1,822 others, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced Thursday.

The WHO added that a total of 12 referral hospitals inside and outside of Tripoli receive the injured on daily basis.

The deteriorating situation in the capital due to shelling and armed clashes has hampered the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the residents as 11 ambulances have suffered from collateral damage since the beginning of the fighting between the LNA and the GNA in early April.

This comes along with “depleting stocks” of medical supplies, the damage of electric lines and fuel shortage in many districts.

“The situation of vulnerable groups such as migrants, displaced persons, refugees, people with special needs has been exacerbated due to intensifying conflict,” the WHO said.

Further, 42,000 people were forced to flee their homes in the capital, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) declared Tuesday.
