600k oil barrels exported from Libya amid Tripoli’s battles

Libyan oil ports of Zuwaytina and Brega, operated by the International Maritime Company in Tobruk, Libya’s eastern coast, have exported 600,000 barrels, Brega Port announced Wednesday.

However, the port has not declared details about the destination of the 600,000 barrels, which were transferred via the oil tanker HYDRA.

In April, Brega Port revealed that million barrels were sent to China.

This exportation comes amid the concern over the impact of Tripoli’s ongoing battles on Libya’s general production.

OPEC Secretary-General Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo said May 5 that the Libyan capital escalations might hinder Libya’s oil production, which, accordingly, will affect OPEC.

On the sidelines of his visit to Oil and Gas Exhibition in Tehran, Barkindo said the OPEC is seeking solutions for a possible “global energy crisis.” He added that Libya is suffering from frequent problems, which might affect the international oil sector.

Meanwhile, despite the ongoing tension in Tripoli, Bloomberg reported May 8 that Libya’s oil output rose after the force majeure had been lifted from el-Sharara oil field in early March.

“Production rose by 90,000 barrels a day to 1.19 million a day,” according to Bloomberg.
