Libya’s NOC, UK discuss larger trade cooperation

The head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mostafa Sanalla discussed with Liam Fox, the U.K. Secretary of State for International Trade, possible means to increase trade cooperation between the two countries.

The Friday meeting also discussed capacity-building opportunities in Libya that would contribute to the strengthening the country’s state institutions to do their jobs competently.

Both sides addressed the challenges arising from the ongoing conflict in Tripoli, which hinders production development, market supply, and local development.

The capital has witnessed since April 4 bloody clashes between the eastern Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).

In a related context, Sanalla met with the Chairperson of the Management Committee at the Libyan Petroleum Institute, Mansour Emtir, to discuss the progress of the projects supervised by the institute in cooperation with some American companies that aim to localize integrated reservoir studies.

Sanalla praised the role of the Institute as one of the technical and advisory arms of the NOC and all the companies of the oil sector.
