Salame, Sarraj discuss means to resume political dialogue

Envoy of the U.N. Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Ghassan Salame and head of theU.N.-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) Faiez al-Sarraj discussed Tuesday means to return to the political dialogue.

During their meeting in Tripoli, Sarraj and Salame highlighted the latest developments in the ongoing fighting between the GNA and Libyan National Army (LNA) near Tripoli.

Salame also met with deputy head of Presidential Council Ahmed Maitiq who briefed him on his recent visit to Washington.

They shed the light on the humanitarian situation in Tripoli including relief efforts as well as ways to revive the political process.

The war in Tripoli has killed more than 560 people, injured 2,800 and forced more than 82,000 to flee their homes since April 4, when General Commander of the LNA Khalifa Haftar pushed his forces to the western region.
