Sirte’s municipal council discusses gas supply to Gulf power station

The municipal council in Sirte held a meeting last Thursday to discuss possible solutions to obstacles facing the project of supplying natural gas to the Gulf Steam Power Station in the city and to compensate the affected citizens of the proposed project.

A study is underway to compensate the owners of the farms through which the proposed gas pipeline will be established, estimated at 13 farms as the project spans over 5 kilometers with a 30-meter width.

Sirte is located south of the Gulf of Sirte, between Tripoli and Benghazi. The Government of National Accord announced the city free from the Islamic State group in late 2016, after military operations backed by the U.S., finally allowing for infrastructure projects much needed in the city.
