Libya’s oil production reaches 1.3m bpd despite Tripoli clashes

Libya’s oil production has reached 1.3 million barrels per day, but the tensions in Libya would eventually impact the production, head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mostafa Sanalla told Reuters Monday.

Sanalla said if the situation in Libya continues to deteriorate, the country would lose 700,000 barrels per day.

His statement comes amid the escalating clashes between the Government of National Accord (GNA) and Libyan National Army (LNA), especially after the GNA expelled the eastern army from Gharyan, a city southwest of Tripoli, on Wednesday.

The whole city has been recaptured from the eastern forces, and the U.N.-recognized GNA took control on the LNA’s operation room.

In response, al-Watiya air force base of the LNA launched Saturday airstrikes on weapon stores of armed groups affiliated to the GNA.
