The Libyan National Army (LNA) has seized a number of desert trucks while smuggling illegal immigrants, fuel and goods to neighboring countries, according to a Sunday statement by the information office of the Kufra military region.
The Kufra military region, southwestern Libya, said that Toyota Tundra vehicles were used in the smuggling to neighboring countries. Southwestern Libya shares borders with Egypt, Sudan and Chad.
The Facebook statement included pictures of the vehicles after the arrest of their owners.
The military Region has intensified the desert patrols to combat smuggling of all kinds to secure the region, per orders from the district commander, Major General Balqasam Laba’g, and directives of the General Command of the National Army to tighten border security, the statement said.
