UN’s Williams discusses human rights with LNA

U.N. Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs in Libya and the Chief of Staff of the Libyan National Army (LNA) discussed on Wednesday means of cooperation to achieve security and human rights and combat terrorism in Libya.

As part of U.N. official Stephanie T. Williams’ tour in eastern Libya, she highlighted with Lieutenant General Abdul Razek al-Nadori the conditions of prisons in Libya and the means of maintaining human rights. in Al Marj city

Williams then went to Benghazi where she met with Tawergha’s displaced activists living in Benghazi and reviewed the challenges faced by displaced people, especially women and children.

Williams and the U.N. Support Mission in Libya have been touring the eastern region, including Tobruk, Derna and Shahat, for eight days following the opening of the U.N. office in Benghazi recently.

During the tour, they brought  together with Libyan parliamentarians who demanded sanctions on Turkey and Qatar for sending weapons to armed groups in Libya.

During their meeting, the east-based MPs reaffirmed their support to the LNA’s operation in the western region to eliminate criminal gangs and terrorists.
