62 bodies of 155 migrants who drowned near Libya recovered

The Libyan Red Crescent has found thus far 62 bodies of migrants who drowned on Thursday in the Mediterranean eastern Tripoli.

“Bodies are still floating on the beach continuously, and their total number of cannot be counted,” the Red Crescent said.

On Thursday, a boat carrying nearly 250 migrants crashed near al-Khums city, killing up to 155 people.

Other 134 migrants were announced rescued in an operation conducted by the Libyan Coast Guard.

The coast guard and the port security authorities said fishermen were informed of the boat crash and coordinated with the specialized teams in an attempt to rescue the migrants.
