Ukrainian plane hit by missile attack at Misurata Airport: Ukrainian Foreign Ministry

An Ukrainian aeroplane was hit by a missile attack on Misurata Airport on Monday, Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Wednesday.

“As a result of the attack, the plane’s tail was destroyed, the operator of the crew was slightly injured, and the passport documents of the air navigator were destroyed. The entire crew of the plane was evacuated to a safe place,” said the ministry.

It added that it will ensure the safe return of the crew to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ministry confirmed that the Il-76TD aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian company SkyAviaTrans was transforming humanitarian aids to Libya to meet the Libyan Red Crescent’s basic needs.

On early Tuesday, the LNA said it had carried out airstrikes on the Faculty of Civil Aviation of Misurata, which is part of the LNA’s plan to make progress towards Tripoli.

Sources referred that the strike, which allegedly was carried out by a drone, destroyed a civilian plane that was landing at the Misrata Airport near the faculty.
