Czech closes its embassy in Tripoli

The Czech Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday the full closure of its embassy in Tripoli because of the deteriorating security situation there. Czech has relocated its embassy partly to Tunisia since April 2015; however, some of the administrative work was still operating in the Libyan Capital.

The Ministry explained that there was no immediate possibility of improvement in the security situation in Tripoli, which forced it to close the embassy there and transfer the scheduled agenda to the embassy in Tunisia Tunis to fulfill its obligations.

Earlier this year, Head of the Precedency council Fayez Sarraj called on Czech companies to work in Libya, and open channels for cooperation with the private sector in order to help with the reconstruction and support the economic reform program.
