Marzuq attackers affiliated to GNA, Municipal Council member claims

Municipal Council member of Marzuq Atiqah Bashir has claimed that the Chadian opposition groups attacking the town are affiliated to the Southern Protection Force of the Government of the National Accord (GNA).

In an interview with 218 News, Bashir called on the Special Envoy of the U.N. Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Ghassan Salame and humanitarian organizations to help Marzuq’s residents amid the “crimes committed against humanity” in the city.

He said the Chadian opposition has killed, injured and forced many residents to flee their homes and move towards Wadi Ataba.

To put an end to the suffering of Marzuq’s residents, the Libyan National Army (LNA)’s air forces targeted on Saturday terrorist groups, including Chadian mercenaries and members of Benghazi’s Shura Council, in southwestern Targhan of southern Libya.

The LNA also hit aircrafts of terrorists groups at an area in Marzuq’s outskirts.

Meanwhile, the eastern army’s land forces continue to seizing the remnants of the terrorist groups and securing Marzuq.
