Libya’s HoR: Murzuq is a ‘distressed district’

The spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Abdullah Blehiq has told 218TV that the HoR has named Murzuq in southern Libya ‘a distressed district’ during the Tuesday parliament session.

The HoR discussed in the session the deadly fighting in Murzuq and later issued a statement denouncing what is happening in there, hence; forming a crisis committee to provide support for its residents.

Meanwhile, armed groups carried out a lightening attack on the Libyan National Army and backup fighters’ outposts in Murzuq and managed to seize control of the town.

The Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) has been accused by many parties of funding and supporting those armed groups.

The member of Murzuq municipality Atiqa Bashir spoke to 218TV earlier and said that the attacking forces were holding the logo of South Protection Force affiliated with the Presidential Council of the GNA.
