France calls for immediate ceasefire in Libya

France’s Foreign Ministry has called on the Libyan warring parties to agree on military deesclation and resumption of political process under the auspices of the United Nations, reiterating its support for the efforts exerted by the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame.

The French Foreign Ministry has also condemned targeting Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport on September 01 that led to injuries of passengers and workers as well as damage to the Airport’s infrastructure.

France stressed that Libyan parties must be committed to protecting civilians and infrastructure under the international humanitarian law, urging the international community to hold a comprehensive conference on Libya as soon as possible.

The French Foreign Ministry indicated that France is with the recent call of G7 countries to hold an international conference on Libya to try and resolve the ongoing conflict.
