Germany gears up for holding an international conference on Libya

All of the previous conferences that were considered to be a way to end Libya’s conflict have not resulted in peace and stability in the country yet, as many of the conferences’ agreements have remained till today ink on paper.

Geneva, Paris, Palermo, and other European cities all hosted Libyan parties and foreign stakeholders but resulted with no resolutions, let alone the recent conference which was slated for April 2019 in Ghadames but failed to convene.

Germany’s turn to solve the Libyan crisis is yet a new attempt in a series of international endeavors with Berlin wishing to be supported by the US and motivated by the fact that none of the waring parties has won the conflict militarily in order to guarantee some sort of success among Libyan parties.

Meanwhile, the German Foreign Ministry has reportedly received today diplomatic delegations from France, US, Turkey, China, Italy, UAE, and Egypt to discuss the agenda of the upcoming Berlin conference on Libya, the London-based Al-Arab newspaper has reported.

Sources told the newspaper that there would not be any abiding plans or resolutions in Berlin for the Libyan parties, as the conference would be just a plan of good intentions.
