Russia, Egypt reiterate support for UN efforts in Libya

A meeting for the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov took place in New York on the margins of the General Assembly. The two discussed the ongoing conflict in Libya among other issues.

Lavrov and Shoukry renewed support for the efforts of the UN that aim at ending the crisis in Libya.

The spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ahmad Hafiz, said the two ministers reviewed several issues of mutual interest for Cairo and Moscow.

Shoukry reiterated that Egypt is interested in boosting cooperation with Russia in all fields, including economy, tourism, and political issues in the region and the world.

“The Foreign Minister have a review of the talks with Ethiopia regarding Al-Nahda Dam and the Nile water, which is very essential to all Egyptians.” The spokesman added.
