US is playing more active role in Libya

The return of an active US role in the Libyan crisis, which has had its impact on regional and even European countries, especially with the illegal immigration flow through its coast, has become clear in heavy bombardment against ISIS terrorists by US Africa Command, killing scores of them.

Washington is trying to expand its influence in Libya and the latest of its efforts were a meeting for a high ranking delegation from US Congress with US Libya ambassador Richard Norland in Tunisia for the first time in years to discuss viable solutions to the country’s conflict.

This new active role is being shaped on the right track by Italy, to which US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, paid a visit this week. Rome hopes to work with US to solve Libya’s crisis, despite the latest common understanding with France.

Stakeholders in Libya are waiting for the results of the new active involvement of US in the war-ravaged country.
