Over 6500 illegal immigrants rescued off Libya’s coast in 9 months

The Libyan Navy Force said the total number of rescued illegal immigrants in the first nine months of 2019 reached 6835, adding that its patrols had recovered 11 bodies of illegal immigrants off the Libyan coast.

The spokesman for the Libyan Navy Force, Ayoub Qassim, said, according to Maghreb Voices website, that 190 illegal immigrants have been registered as missing since the start of this year, adding that the intercepted immigrants’ percentage dropped to 42% in comparison with 2018 and that the dead bodies’ recovering operations also dropped by 87% in comparison to 2018.

The Libyan Coast Guard patrols rescued on Monday 53 illegal immigrants on a dinghy, including 14 women, off northwest Abu Kammash district.
