Foreign aircraft doing ISR missions over Libyan skies

Libya is still a place of open skies and waters for all international aircraft and vessels; be them civilian or military, with little known about their sources.

Italian Radar website said it had depicted and tracked a US Global Hawk over western Libya at 54k feet on November 01.

The website said: “In the past days, we’ve noticed some errors from the main Tripoli receiver, but in this case the position of the drone is confirmed also by the second one Tripoli receiver (pp-ls)”.

It added earlier that it had tracked a new surveillance mission off Libya by an Italian Air Force Beechcraft B350ER (MM62300) based in Pantelleria AB, saying the aircraft left the the Sicilian island southbound.

“The aircraft was flying southbound to ENI oil platform off western Libya to make an ISR mission.” The website indicated.

According to the latest information gathered by the Italian Radar, ISR missions over the Libyan coast were depicted for US, Italian and German aircraft.
