Italy concerned about terrorism threats coming from Libya

The Italian Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio has expressed concern over the ongoing conflict and crisis in Libya.

Di Maio expressed concern over the illegal immigration and the threats posed to the region by terrorism that are just hundreds of kilometers off Italy’s coasts.

The remarks of the Italian Foreign Minister came on his visit to Morocco as he met his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Burita.

Di Maio reiterated that his country backs the UN-led political process in Libya and that the solution to the Libyan crisis can only be political, adding that deesclation is necessary and so is commitment to the Security Council’s arms embargo in Libya.

Meanwhile, the Moroccan Foreign Minister said both Italy and Morocco have joint vision on regional issues, especially on Libya.
