Hundreds of Sudanese nationals evacuated from Libya due to continuous fighting in Tripoli

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry said it had evacuated 480 nationals from Libya as heavy fighting continued in Tripoli’s suburbs.

The Sudanese nationals have been evacuated from Libya as per coordination between Sudan’s embassy in Tripoli and the International Organization for Migration, the Foreign Ministry told Sudan Tribune news website.

The Foreign Ministry added that the evacuation flight was the fifth one as part of the continuous efforts of the embassy to evacuate Sudanese nationals trapped in fighting zones in southern Tripoli.

The IOM of the United Nations said earlier that it would repatriate about 10.000 illegal immigrants – mostly from African countries – from Libya to their countries of origin by the end of 2019.
