Mauritania says Africa’s security is linked to ending Libya’s crisis

Mauritania said the stability of the region and the termination of ISIS threats in Africa are linked to the developments of the Libyan crisis.

The President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, said at the Dakar Peace and Security in Africa Forum, which kicked off Sunday in Senegal, that stability in the region needs a radical solution to the Libyan crisis.

He referred to the initiatives that aim to regain security in the region such as Group of Five in Sahel region, Nouakchott initiative, and the initiative of economic group of western Africa as well as the UN forces in Mali.

Ould Ghazouani hailed the German-French initiative that was announced in last August as part of the partnership for security and stability in Sahel region as it aims to expand efforts to fight terrorism in order to include some countries from West Africa.
