Sayala briefs UN Secretary General on the damage of Tripoli war

The Foreign Minister-designate of the Government of National Accord Mohammed Al-Taher Sayala discussed with the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres Monday the field and humanitarian issues in Libya.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said the meeting in New York saw Sayala explain the damages done by the fighting in southern Tripoli between GNA forces and Libyan National Army, including the number of deaths and injuries as well as the destruction of public and private properties.

Sayala claimed that there were foreign fighters fighting alongside the Libyan National Army and asked Guterres to warn the concerned countries of such violations.

The meeting also discussed UN envoy’s efforts to halt the ongoing military operations and resume dialogue, reiterating that there is no military solution to the Libyan conflict.
