Greece: Erdoğan is the major violator of international law in the region

The Greek Foreign Ministry has responded to the statements of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan when he said Friday that the agreement with Libya will go through and that his country won’t withdraw its ships from the Mediterranean.

The Greek Foreign Ministry described the Turkish President as “the major violator of international law in the region.”

It also added that Erdogan’s statements in his inauguration address for Turkish natural gas transfer line are violations of international legitimacy.

Greek authorities said they hope the Turkish authorities understand that they must respect international laws and legitimacy.

Erdogan and the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj signed last Wednesday in Istanbul to MoUs in security and military as well as in maritime cooperation, communication office of Turkish Presidency said.

An emergency summit between Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Greek Foreign Minister is going to be held later on Sunday.

The Greek Foreign Ministry said earlier that the summit in Cairo will be tackling the developments in the eastern Mediterranean region in the wake of Libya-Turkey MoUs.
