Egypt: Agreement between Erdogan and Al-Sarraj threatens security of the Mediterranean

The Chairman of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, ambassador Munir Zahran, said the agreement on maritime boundaries between Turkey and the Libyan Government of National Accord is a blatant violation of international laws and threatens the interests of Libyan neighboring countries as well as the resources of the Mediterranean, adding that Turkey is a sponsor of terrorism.

Zahran told Asharq Al-Awsat that Al-Sarraj government didn’t take into consideration the relations with its neighboring countries, especially Egypt, which shares with Libya a vast borderline and historic relations.

He also said that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had provided GNA forces before with military vehicles and weapons that were seized, hence; Zahran added that the current agreement between the two sides is concerning and a direct threat to the security of the Mediterranean.
