Libya’s conflict makes Algeria, Tunisia vigilant for their borders’ security

Tunisia and Algeria have ramped up security measures on their borders after the situation in Libya has reentered the escalation entanglement.

The security and defense committee at the Tunisian Parliament held Monday a behind-the-door meeting to discuss the ramifications of the Libyan conflict on Tunisia and their readiness to secure their borders with Libya.

The Tunisian Defense Minister Mohammed Al-Jamousi said the southeastern region of Tunisia is fully secure and all land, air and marine measures are in place.

While the Head of the security and defense committee at the Parliament Emad Al-Khamiri said the refugees center in southern Tunisia is ready for any emergencies.

Meanwhile in Algeria, the Chief of Staff of Algerian People’s National Army Saïd Chengriha called on the soldiers on the borders to be on alert for any security threats.

Chengriha said the ongoing conflict in Libya and the situation in the region make it obligatory for the Algerian army forces to be vigilant on the borders, saying such instability won’t affect Algeria.
