Italy, Greece reiterate rejection to Erdogan and GNA’s maritime MoU

The Italian Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio and his Greek counterpart renewed in a meeting in Rome on Tuesday rejection to the maritime MoU signed by Libya’s Government of National Accord and Turkey.

According to Aki, the two ministers said the Turkish-GNA MoU violated the sovereign rights of third countries and the seas law, adding that there legal repurcussions for that agreement.

The two ministers also said that demarcation of maritime boundaries comes through honest negotiations with full respect for the international laws and for the relations with neighboring countries.

They also called for starting negotiations to reach an Italian-Greek agreement for maritime demarcation between the two countries.
