Al-Mismari announces new GNA ceasefire violations in Tripoli

The spokesman for the General Commander of the Libyan National Army, Ahmed Al-Mismari, said Monday that armed groups backed by elements of the Turkish army are violating the truce and targeting civilian neighborhoods south of Tripoli with heavy artillery.

“Terrorist militias reinforced with elements of the Turkish army have violated the truce and targeted civilian neighborhoods south of the capital Tripoli with heavy artillery, and our forces continue to abide by the ceasefire as they have not responded to the sources of fire.” Al-Mismari wrote on his Facebook page.

Al-Mismari said, in a press conference on Sunday, that the General Command agreed to the ceasefire in Tripoli and is convinced that the situation in Libya will not be resolved except by eliminating criminals, stressing that the LNA is fighting terrorists and criminals, yet it respects the truce and is working to reach a ceasefire.

He added that the “militias” are violating the truce daily, saying the LNA is able to repel any threat, but it is following the international community’s tendency to make room for peace.
