Tunisia shuts borders with Libya over coronavirus concerns

Tunisian Minister of Transport Anwar Maarouf said on Monday that his country’s authorities had decided to close land borders with Libya as part of efforts to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Tunisia, which confirmed 20 cases of coronavirus, has imposed restrictions on flights with some European countries and halted sea travel.

The Tunisian government issued Tuesday a decision to consider the Corona virus as a communicable disease that allows deterrent and punitive measures to be taken against anyone who refuses treatment or violates the quarantine.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Tunisian Airlines, Elias Al-Manqabi, expected earlier Monday that the airlines’ losses will reach 70 million dinars (24.6 million dollars) in March, and 80 million dinars in April due to Coronavirus.
