LNA welcomes ceasefire call to combat Coronavirus outbreak

The General Command of the Libyan National Army has welcomed the call to stop fighting for humanitarian purposes to combat the Coronavirus epidemic, stressing that LNA forces are to this date are the most committed party to the halt of hostilities despite repeated violations and lack of commitment by the “militias and mercenaries”.

The General Command said in a statement Saturday that it is “committed to stopping the fighting as long as the rest of the parties abide by it within the framework of mutual commitment.

The General Command said it wouldn’t abide by the ceasefire and let the terrorist and mercenary militias wreak havoc, crime and intimidation in Tripoli, adding that they need to commit to it as well.

The General Command affirmed that it considers all international efforts aimed at achieving peace and finding consensus among the Libyans positively, and welcomes every effort that is directed in this regard, reiterating that this should operate in a manner that guarantees the dismantling of militias, the handing over of their weapons, the expulsion of Turkish and Syrian mercenaries from Libya and the elimination of terrorism.
