Report precisely tracks Turkish arms ship route to Libya’s Tripoli

The BBC tracked, with precision, arms shipments that Turkey recently sent to Libya violating the UN Security Council arms embargo, despite Turkish President Recep Erdogan’s pledge in Berlin to stop those shipments.

Videos and testimonies of sailors as well as satellite images included in the report of the BBC that tracked the movement of the Bana ship that sailed from the Turkish port of Mersin at 6.00 AM on January 24 as the BBC reported that after 3 days the ship disappeared from the radar network 400 km From the Libyan coast.

The BBC showed an aerial view of three marine vessels, the largest of which was identified as the ship Bana by its shape and size and also its colors, while it was clear that the other two were two G-class frigates of the Turkish Navy, according to the BBC.

Other photos showed that Bana docked in the port of Tripoli to unload cargo of military vehicles, heavy artillery, and weapons, as the BBC’s Eye of Africa team was able to confirm that a number of the photos that were posted had been taken inside Bana.

Weapons” photos from Bana have been confirmed, when the Italian security authorities released pictures of the ship from the inside after they arrested its crew who docked in Genoa after leaving Libya.

According to police records, the ship’s crew admitted that they had loaded a shipment of weapons, tanks and explosives in the southern coastal city of Mersin before transporting them to the Libyan capital, Tripoli, stating that 10 Turkish soldiers were on board to accompany the cargo.

Despite the assurances, pledges and promises made by Erdogan and the rest of the parties to the international community regarding the conflict in Libya, violations are still recorded and death shipments threatening the lives of Libyans continue to flow unchecked to Turkey’s ambitions in the absence of patriotism among those who govern Libya.
