Libya is lost between Coronavirus pandemic and loosely open borders

With every newly announced Coronavirus case among Libyans, they put their hands on their hearts in anticipation of an unprecedented outbreak of the epidemic in a country that suffers from low performance in all sectors and health is no exception.

As Coronavirus cases reached eight, observers fear that the negligence will continue on Libyan air, land and sea borders, especially at the airports.

World Health Organization ranked Libya among the high-risk countries in the region, stressing the importance of observing preventive measures to avoid a larger outbreak.

The General Command of the Libyan National Army depicted two flights between Istanbul and the airports of Misurata and Mitiga in Libya, which is inconsistent with the suspension of all flights, in addition to negligence in closing the land borders between Libya and the six neighboring countries.

Meanwhile, the inaction and lack of seriousness of all state agencies in the two governments are not isolating the hotspots in which cases have emerged and the lack of control over the imposition of curfews among cities.

Libyans, therefore, will be left to pay dearly in the event of a pandemic in a country that falls between war and Coronavirus epidemic.
