The western region has witnessed accelerated military developments since Sunday night, as they have started with intense airstrikes launched by Government of National Accord aircraft on the Libyan National Army’s positions in the city of Sabratha, killing 4 soldiers and wounding two.
On Monday early morning hours, forces from the western region’s operations room, affiliated with the GNA, launched a massive attack in which they took control of Sorman city and the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department – the western region branch.
GNA forces continued to advance and were able to control the city of Sabratha and the headquarters of the Al-Zawiya Operations Room, as clashes took place at the eastern entrance of Sabratha, then GNA forces advanced towards Al-Ajilat and took control of it.
Therefore, the entire coastal road from Al-Zawiya to Ras Agadir will be under the control of GNA’s forces.
It is worth noting that the forces from the western region’s operations room managed during their attacks Monday to seize several camps, ammunition and military equipment.
