Aqilah Saleh: HoR is with the LNA now and forever

A lengthy press release issued Saturday by the office of the Speaker of Parliament, Aqilah Saleh, warned against what he considered an escalation in the pace of foreign conspiracies on the country and public attempts to internationalize the conflict as well as turn Libya into a battlefield with the aim of preventing the Libyan National Army from completing its tasks in cleansing the capital Tripoli from what he described as “terrorist groups”, militias and armed gangs.

The statement also warned of turning the capital into a hub for terrorists and mercenaries, with a continuing flow of ammunition and weapons just under the nose of international community that did nothing to stop these flagrant crimes committed against an independent, sovereign state, which is a member of the United Nations.

The press statement also stressed that what was reported by the news through some media and social media about the differences between the Presidency of the House of Representatives and the General Command of the National Army is “baseless.”

The statement added that everyone in the House of Representatives and the General Command of the National Army “are fighting terrorism in its various forms and are together in supporting brave officers and soldiers and their leadership.”

The statement renewed the Parliament’s keenness to unify the ranks, strengthen the internal front, and work towards its cohesion, based on the national position supporting the army and respect and appreciation for its sacrifices, stressing that it will not leave room for those who mess around aiming to break up the social fabric and disrupt the unified political position in Libya.

It also indicated that (the elected parliament did not include the political agreement in the constitutional declaration and did not give the Government of National Accord confidence. It rejected and appealed against the legitimacy the GNA claims from the various meetings and dialogues as well as negotiation sessions. It vigorously confronted what GNA had decided of the wrong actions, and the shameful agreements it signed that undermine the dignity and sovereignty of the Libyans on their land as they were in violation of the Constitutional Declaration, the law, and the terms of the Skhirat Agreement).

The statement concluded that the House of Representatives issued its decision considering the agreement and considered it null and non-binding as well as told the international community of its uselessness and then went to the Berlin conference, whose conclusions strengthened the position of the House of Representatives and the National Army.
