UN report reveals details of special operation to cut off Turkey’s supplies to GNA

A confidential United Nations report stirred controversy after disclosing information about a foreign security operation that was planned by eight countries, including Arab and European countries, with the aim of supporting the Commander in Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

The report says that the security companies “Lancaster 6” and “Opus Capital Asset” operated security plans to deter Turkey and cut its military supplies to the Government of National Accord through a special security mission in Libya.

According to the report of the United Nations experts, the mission team consisted of 20 foreigners who were transported to Libya and six helicopters that reached Benghazi from South Africa in addition to two military boats that were transported from Malta to Benghazi in June of last year.

It seems that this secret mission was not successful, as the UN report seen by the German news agency indicates that it stopped less than 7 days after the arrival of helicopters and military boats to Libya for reasons that are still mysterious, while the people participating in the mission left from Benghazi to Malta in the same period.

United Nations experts believe that the objectives of the clandestine mission included carrying out a naval attack, as well as “granting Haftar the ability to cut off the sea route for weapons provided by Turkey to the Government of National Accord”.
