LNA depicts arrival of Turkish tanks’ shipment to Misrata Port

The spokesman for the General Command of the Libyan National Army, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, confirmed that they had depicted a Turkish cargo ship, loaded with M60 tanks, on a suspicious route from Istanbul to Misrata.

Al-Mismari indicated that the tanks are owned by a Turkish state company called “CIRKIN” and that they left Istanbul for Libya on May 21, arriving in Misrata Port on the morning of the 28th of the same month.

The cargo ship was accompanied by a Turkish frigate, which was moving near it throughout the route, and it was described by the spokesman for the General Command as “suspicious”.

Al-Mismari revealed that they had also depicted an Italian ship that was near the Turkish cargo ship but did not intercept it, affirming that the Italian ship was not affiliated with the European Operation IRINI, which aims at monitoring the arms embargo in Libya.

Al-Mismari also said that they had seen tweets posted on May 29, a day after the docking of the Turkish ship in Misrata Port, by several pages thanking Turkey for sending the M60 tanks, in addition to photos that were published near Misrata of a truck carrying a military vehicle that looks like a tank.
