LNA withdraws from southern Tripoli frontlines

The Libyan National Army units withdrew from the fighting axes in south of Tripoli, specifically from Tripoli Airport, Ain Zara and Wadi Al-Rabea, after an announcement by the Government of National Accord forces that said they had controlled those areas, after 8 continuous days of fighting.

The withdrawal of the LNA units was not explained by the operations room or the spokesman of the Commander in Chief, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, but for the GNA forces, it is considered a military victory, without mentioning the Turkish presence.

The Tripoli airport frontline has witnessed violent clashes since Wednesday morning, and before the withdrawal orders that came in the afternoon as part of GNA operations after the decision of the General Command of the National Army to redeploy in the western region in what is known as the relocation policy.

This withdrawal of the military units coincided with a visit by the Commander-in-Chief of the National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, and his meeting with the Chief of Staff and the Minister of Defense, amid assurances of activating military negotiations known as the 5 + 5 track sponsored by the United Nations mission.

The withdrawal of the LNA from Tripoli carries several interpretations, the first of which is that the withdrawal is one of the unfinished rounds of the battle, while another explanation says that matters have become almost smooth for the GNA forces accompanied by Turkish military intervention and the Syrian mercenaries.

This can be seen as a noticeable decline in the area of military operations in the vicinity of Tripoli, but the coming days may bring about more developments, especially since the military situation in the western region is still uncertain.
