Libya’s National Disease Control Center unveils Coronavirus genetic chain

The National Center for Disease Control said today, Saturday, that it has been able to identify the genetic type of the emerging coronavirus in Libya.

This center, in a statement, concluded that this result after a study conducted by its community health reference laboratory, in cooperation with the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Human Medicine, University of Tripoli, on a number of positive samples collected from different parts of the country.

The study verifies that 75% of the samples belong to the genotype (A) of the Corona virus, and 25% of the samples belong to the type (B) of the virus.

The National Center emphasized that the Community Health Reference Laboratory is working to complete its study on the rest of the positive samples and find a similarity with what was published by the Genbank.
