Turkey urges Egypt to look for joint interests between Cairo and Ankara

The Turkish Presidential Adviser Yasin Aktay said that the border demarcation memorandum signed by Turkey with the Government of National Accord would allow the two countries to benefit from the extraction of gas and oil, adding that this agreement is beneficial to Egypt’s interests as well.

Aktay said that Turkey did not come to Libya to fight Egypt or any regional country, but rather to defend its interests, considering that the Egypt and Greece’s agreement harms the interests of both Egypt and Turkey.

Erdogan’s adviser said that Turkey and Egypt have common interests in the international waters of the Mediterranean, and called for turning a blind eye to the differences between the two countries, because the dispute over an issue, in his opinion, should not turn into hostility in all issues, citing an example of Turkish-Russian relations.
